Golden Mile

Marbella’s Golden Mile – an icon of luxury between the town centre and Puerto Banús.

Synonymous with luxury

The Golden Mile is an iconic stretch of Marbella, synonymous with luxury, exclusivity and elegance. Renowned for its grand mansions, five-star resorts and world-class amenities, it is one of the most desirable addresses on the Costa del Sol and in Europe.

It stretches for around 5 kilometres between the western edge of central Marbella and the luxury marina of Puerto Banús. The Mediterranean borders it to the south, with the Sierra Blanca mountains to the north. It is divided into a beachside area with resorts and seafront villas, and a hillside area with residences enjoying elevated views.

The story behind the name

The informal name “La Milla de Oro” was coined in the early 1980s by German singer Roy Boston, who became a successful property developer. It originally referred to the stretch along the N-340 road containing the Saudi royal summer palace and the Marbella Club, Don Pepe and Puente Romano hotels. Today, it also encompasses the prestigious hillside areas of Rocío de Nagüeles, Sierra Blanca and Cascada de Camoján.

Architecture

Mediterranean architecture has traditionally predominated here, with white walls, terracotta roofs and arches. In recent years, demand has grown for contemporary architecture with clean lines, open-plan spaces and floor-to-ceiling windows.
